Fundraiser for Sylvania Twp. murder victim

Posted: Updated:

Friends describe Darryl Stipes as one of the best musicians in northwest Ohio. Now they're trying to help his family. Last month, police say someone shot Stipes multiple times near the front door of his Sylvania Township home.

The 60-year-old did not survive the attack. Investigators are still searching for a suspect. Meantime, family members are holding a fundraiser Sunday. The event will include live music and a spaghetti dinner. A poker run and silent auction are also part of the event.

All of the money raised will go to the family of Stipes to "settle his estate." They will also be taking pledges for reward money in hope that someone will come forward with information that leads police to a suspect in the case.
