The Lake Local School Board has unanimously approved a one year contract with the Lake Education Association. The teacher's contract calls for a pay freeze across the board and an increase in employee healthcare premiums. On average, teachers will pay 41% more for health care each month. The concessions are expected to save the district $180,000 dollars.
The board also approved a 6.75 mill levy request for the November 6th ballot. They have the same request before voters next week on August 7th. The filing is required by the state if the August levy fails, for Lake to appeal once again to voters in November.

The bill to ban Internet cafes will head to the Ohio Senate floor today. Yesterday a Senate Committee overwhelmingly approved the plans. Two separate proposals would ban operations statewide and block new cafes until the ban takes effect. There are about 800 Internet cafes in Ohio.
