Dog dies in S. Toledo SWAT standoff

TOLEDO, Ohio -

A Toledo man is in jail after the SWAT team used tear gas to remove him from his home on Arlington near Toronto in South Toledo.
    
Police say a woman called to report a domestic dispute and suspect Brian Babb refused to come out.

 Around 4 o'clock Friday morning, officers in an armored vehicle launched tear gas through multiple windows. They then forced entry into the triplex and took Babb into custody.

Babb faced a judge Friday morning. He's being held on a $200,000  bond for charges of obstructing justice and domestic violence.

The woman who lived with him tells 13abc someone shot and killed her dog during the ordeal.

Angela Hahn says, "I would have let them in had they...I would have let you in. You could have gone in. My dog is in there and I don't even know if my dog is alive."

Toledo Police responded to the complaint, telling 13abc, "The suspect has guns, numerous guns, and also has a vicious dog that is known to bite, we are going to follow our standard safety protocols. We take that very seriously, and that's not only to protect us, the officers, but the public as well."

    One woman is in the hospital after an early morning fire. The fire started at a duplex on Vance street. Investigators say the home might need to be demolished. When crews arrived on the scene flames were shooting from the roof. The cause is still under investigation.
