Ohio's top Superintendent resigns

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -

Ohio's top education official has resigned.

The State Education Department released Stan Heffner's resignation letter on Saturday.

Heffner did not give a reason for his departure

The letter came days after Heffner was accused of what some would call unethical behavior.

Inspector General Randall Meyor found that Heffner was on the payroll of testing firm when he lobbied state lawmakers on a bill that benefited the company.

The resignation takes effect next Friday.
