*Bedford Teachers Talk Contract

Bedford teachers are expected to meet this evening - to talk over a tentative contract agreement with the district. The teachers union and the district reached the deal last week after months of negotiations. Both sides are expected to vote on the deal sometime this week.

*Jamie Farr Week Begins

Last summer there was that feeling that something was missing. As you know, with the PGA Senior Open at Inverness, the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic took a year off. But this week it's back. More than 100 of the LPGA's best will be on the links for the opening round of the tournament that starts Thursday. But before we get to that ... there's a whole bunch of fun leading up to the serious business. Starting today there are a number of Pro-Am's and tomorrow night will be the Hollywood Casino Gala Dinner and show at the Seagate center. There are 10 main charities benefiting this year ... including the Ronald McDonald house of Northwest Ohio which over the last 27 years, has received over $1.2 million.

*Hens Game Breaks 5/3 Field Record   

 The Mud Hens set a new record for 5/3 Field last night. The game versus ended the 9th tied at 7. So they went to extras…10 *extra* innings to be exact. The game lasted 6 ½ hours. Finally, in the 19th inning... the Rochester scored three runs and held on to win 10 to 9. It's the longest game in fifth third field history.

*OH – State Fair Closes

The Ohio State Fair is history for another year. The fair closed its run yesterday with a livestock auction that brought in nearly $330,000. The weekend also included warnings to fairgoers to wash their hands after two pigs were sent home because they had the swine flu virus.

*MI – Albom Calls for Blight Fight

Journalist, author and philanthropist Mitch Albom is inviting people to help board up 100 houses over one day in Detroit. Albom says abandoned homes have become a "terrible symbol of Detroit."  Albom says the homes need to be demolished, but that won't happen soon enough. He says boarding them up on august 25th should provide some safety to children as they return to school. 

*MI – Powerball Winner Snags $1 Million

No one snagged the $181-million Powerball jackpot this weekend, but somebody in Michigan still hit it relatively big. Lottery officials say one ticket matched five numbers Saturday and is worth $1 million before taxes. Go to 13abc.Com to see all the numbers.

*Mars Rover Lands Overnight

We've got some new images of mars this morning after the most high-tech rover ever built, landed on the red planet. The 2-point-5 billion dollar *Curiosity* touched down early this morning. It's the size of a small car - and NASA used cables to lower the rover into a giant crater. For the next two years, curiosity will drill into rocks and scoop up soil samples. The goal is to see if Mars could have ever supported life.
