Hot temps mean more spiders

Posted: Updated:

The drought may be bad news for people, but some creepy crawlers are thriving in the heat.    Experts say since insects and spiders are cold-blooded, they develop quicker in extreme heat.

That means more bugs are creating more generations this summer and the heat is driving some spiders indoors. They typically hide in dark corners, boxes or closets.

You can reduce your risk of being bitten by wearing long sleeves or gloves if you're going through your attic or moving boxes.

Experts also recommend setting out glue boards to catch spiders before they have a chance to bite you.
