Great grandmother on moment babies were shot

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

It's a family's worst nightmare. Naomi Reed says she was putting her great-grandchildren to bed in the living room when she says the glass siding door in the rear of the apartment shattered.

"When the glass started hitting my feet, I realized it was gunshots, I look down to get them, but by then it was too late."

"Two-year-old Leondra and one-year-old Keondra Hooks were caught in the gunfire.

"When I reached for my one-year-old great-grand baby, she was shot in her head. I had to get a neighbor to got to the hospital with her. I didn't even know the two-year-old was shot. While we were in the hospital they brought the two-year-old in."

Naomi says she had been babysitting the two toddlers while their mother was out.

Family members also tell us there's been plans to move. They say a few months ago a bullet made its way through the front of the apartment. They say this time around there seemed to be too many bullet holes to count.

The victims' aunt Bernice Neal says "They put in a request for a change of address, but no change of address, they left her there.they just fixed the wall where the bullet went through before but now it's too late."

Officials say two other adults and one infant were also in the apartment when the gun shots were fired. None of them were injured.
