A woman accused of killing a man in a drunk-driving accident faced a judge again Monday morning. Candy Gillen, 42, is being charged with aggravated vehicular homicide.
Gillen withdrew her original plea of ‘not guilty' and pled ‘no contest' to the charge.
State troopers say, just after 1 a.m. on New Year's Day, Gillen was drunk driving when she hit a broken down vehicle from behind.
Inside that car was 49-year-old Jeffry Brown. The crash pushed Brown's vehicle into the intersection, where it struck a guardrail and caught on fire.
According to the Lucas County Sheriff's Department, Brown was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.
Gillen could face up to 16 months behind bars and a $10,000 fine as well as the forfeiture of her license. She will face a judge again at the end of September for sentencing.
