Detroit Public Schools wants its students to get the year off on the right foot. The Detroit Free Press reports students in the Detroit public school system will get a free pair of shoes for coming to class on "Count Day."
Two local businessmen are donating what is expected to be more than 14,000 pairs of Nikes to students who attend school on October 3.
Count Day is an official nationwide enrollment count and plays a role in determining how much state funding school districts receive.
