The Ottawa County Health Department has issued a Contamination Advisory for Lake Erie's waters once again.
This is something they've been doing for about half of the summer.
A sign posted on the Port Clinton City Beach warns that bacteria levels could be dangerous to the youngest and oldest swimmers.
Those with weaker immune systems are also at risk.
City leaders in Port Clinton say one of the main contributors of harmful bacteria is runoff from fertilized fields - and local farmers are beginning to adapt to tighter E.P.A. restrictions.
We spoke with Vincent Leone, the Mayor of Port Clinton. He said he and his family still enjoy the beaches, but they take precautions and are mindful of the hazard. "We're out on the beach all the time. We still have a great time out there, but we make sure the kids take care of themselves afterwards."
The weather plays the greatest role in day-to-day water quality, with recent rainfall and wind causing bacteria levels to rise and fall.
Advisories are currently in effect for Erie County's beaches as well, but not for Lucas County.

It has been a slow severe weather season up to this point, but this weekend will be the busiest of the season so far. There were more than 20 tornado reports on Saturday and over 200 severe reports totals.
