Tropical Storm Isaac is threatening parts of the Caribbean, including Haiti, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio is helping to prepare individuals and communities in the path of the storm. The Red Cross is taking steps now to respond in Florida if needed, as Isaac could affect southern Florida early next week.
American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio disaster volunteers will deploy to Tampa, Florida to volunteer in mass care shelters being set up in advance of Isaac's landfall. In their capacity as mass care shelter volunteers, they will be directly assisting individuals impacted by the storm with sheltering, feeding and other emergency needs.
They will be flying to Florida tomorrow on two week assignments.
