Parents work to replace stolen $ for kids' activities

Posted: Updated:
PERRYSBURG, Ohio -

Back in May, Kiki Lorann, a school volunteer was arrested and charged with stealing $90,000 from two Perrysburg Schools parent organizations, the Toth parents' Club and PEPA, the Perrysburg Elementary Parents' association.

Now parents in Perrysburg are "Going the Extra Mile" to gain back what they lost.

The Perrysburg school district came together to go the extra mile for students. The hope here is to raise enough money to keep hands on enrichment programs inside the classroom this school year.

Event coordinator Emily Hayes said, "We didn't want our kids to go lacking this school year. So this was just a boost for PEPA and Toth Parents' Club so that they could still run all of our programs for our kids this year."

13abc's Jeff Smith also pitched in as the master of ceremonies.   Students and parents alike enjoyed a number of carnival games,  silent auction and a number of inflatables.

Many surrounding businesses stepped up to help by donating to the event.

Missy Madigan, President of the Toth Parents' Club said, "We have a lot of sponsors. Heroes was amazing.  They donated all the inflatables and the multiple other companies. Dave's Running Shop was very supportive; Big Daddy Graphics. We have a lot of community support that made the event happen. It would be nice to make 15 to 20 thousand dollars,  which would cover all of the operational costs for the year.  But whatever we make this has been such a success already, it doesn't really matter as long as we're moving forward."
