1. TJ MAXX IN BG

TJ Maxx is opening a new store in Bowling Green. The store on South Main celebrates its grand opening on September 9th. The new store adds some 60 full and part-time jobs to the area. To give back to the community, the store is presenting a $5,000 donation to The Cocoon Shelter at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

2. RAPE INDICTMENT

An 18-year-old man in Tiffin faces accusations he had sex with minors. Gregory Simpkins faces three counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition for incidents that reportedly happened between August 2011 and May of this year. Simpkins is held on $1 million bond.

3. TORTURE VICTIM

Authorities in Columbus say they have several "people of interest" in the horrific case of a severely burned woman found naked with a rope around her neck. She was spotted by a passing motorist on a road in a rural, heavily wooded area of eastern Ohio. She was roughly 60 miles from her home. The motorist told a dispatcher the woman had been raped, beaten and burned.

4. NAVY WEEK

After a successful even in Toledo, Navy Week has arrived in Northeastern Ohio. It drops anchor in Cleveland as part of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Six ships will be docked at the Port of Cleveland and open to the public.

5. ROMNEY RYAN AND RAPE

(AP) - Republican Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan don't entirely agree on the abortion issue. Romney says he supports abortion in cases of rape, incest and the health and life of the mother. But running mate Paul Ryan has challenged the health exception as a major loophole.

6. GOP CONVENTION

(AP) - Republicans gathered in Tampa are fired up about their convention but are making efforts to come across as subdued because of the Tropical Storm Isaac's advance on the Gulf Coast. Mitt Romney, who has yet to arrive, issued a statement saying his thoughts are with the people in the storm's path. The convention was gaveled to order and then immediately into recess until tomorrow.
