Libbey Inc. corporate headquarters staying in Toledo

The CEO of Toledo-based glass maker Libbey Inc. announced Tuesday the company is keeping its world corporate headquarters in Downtown Toledo for another 15 years.

300 Libbey Glass employees work at the Edison Plaza and those jobs will stay put for another 15 years.

Libbey CEO Stephanie Streeter announced she signed a new 15-year-extension with Toledo Edison.

Streeter says her company, which has been headquartered in the Glass City for almost 125 years, actually looked into leaving town.

However, a $1 million grant from the state, incentives from the city, and a rent reduction from Toledo Edison enticed Libbey to stay.

Streeter also announced lease extensions on two other properties: the Libbey Glass Factory Outlet Store at the Erie Street Market and the showroom across the street on Saint Clair.
