Authorities find marijuana grow site in SW Mich.

COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan say they've destroyed nearly 1,800 marijuana plants after finding a growing operation in a wooded area.

The Van Buren County sheriff's department says the initial find was made earlier this month in Covert Township and authorities returned to the area this week to search for more plants.

The department says marijuana was growing along trails and holes were dug along the trails that held water. Small campsites were found as well as fertilizer bags.

Authorities are seeking tips in the ongoing investigation.
