Lourdes University head softball coach Jo Ann Gordon has released the Gray Wolves' schedule for this spring, the inaugural season in program history.
"We're excited for spring to arrive and get the season started for the first time," Gordon stated. "The spring trip will give us a chance to play teams from outside of our region and will be a good early test for our players."
The Gray Wolves will open March 3-9 with 12 games over six days in Florida as part of their spring trip, with the opponents as well as the exact dates and times to be determined later in the winter.
Upon returning north, Lourdes will play all doubleheaders, beginning with trips to Goshen and Bethel (Ind.) before playing its home opener at Pacesetter Park on March 26 against Indiana Wesleyan in a twinbill.
"March 26 will be an exciting day for Lourdes athletics and Lourdes softball," Gordon added. "We hope the community and campus will come out and support the Gray Wolves on the field."
Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play opens at home on April 3 when Michigan-Dearborn visits Sylvania. The Gray Wolves also have home doubleheaders against co-WHAC regular season champion Davenport (April 7), Aquinas (April 13), and Concordia (Mich.) (April 17) in WHAC play in addition to the home finale against Siena Heights on April 21. Saint Francis (Ind.) will also visit for non-conference games on April 16.
The Gray Wolves will take to the road in WHAC play for contests against Indiana Tech, defending co-regular season and WHAC tournament champion Madonna, as well as Cornerstone.
Lourdes will travel out of conference for games at Baldwin Wallace and, Spring Arbor as well as the season finale at Ursuline on April 24.
The WHAC Tournament, a double elimination event, is slated for May 1-3 at Bailey Park in Battle Creek, Mich.
