NEW LOCAL NEWS

1. PRESIDENT OBAMA VISIT

President Obama is visiting Northwest Ohio ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Sources tell 13abc the president is expected to stop by Scott High School Labor Day. Air Force One is set to land at Toledo Express Sunday night. The president will fly out Monday afternoon.

2. "SHOW OF STRENGTH"

This Sunday, 13abc Plus will air this year's MDA "Show of Strength". The show features some of the most popular artists and stories from people who face muscular dystrophy. The show airs Sunday from 8p to 11p on 13-2, Buckeye Cable 614 and Time Warner 996.

3. UTMC KIDNEY PROGRAM

A surgeon from out of state has arrived in Toledo to review UTMC's living donor kidney transplant program. The hospital suspended the program after a donated kidney was apparently put with medical waste instead of going to the recipient. UTMC hired the consultant from Texas to evaluate the transplant program.

4. ROMNEY IN OHIO

(AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will return to Ohio on Saturday morning in Cincinnati. His campaign said he will speak at a rally at Cincinnati's Union Terminal. Romney and running mate Paul Ryan campaigned last Saturday in central Ohio before heading to the Republican National Convention this week in Tampa.

5. DEER DISEASE

(AP) - Michigan wildlife officials say a viral disease has killed more than 1,700 white-tailed deer across the state this summer. Most of the deer deaths have been reported in Ionia County. The disease transmitted by tiny flies causes internal bleeding but doesn't affect humans. Experts say it's been more prevalent this year because of the drought.

6. ISAAC

(AP) - Isaac is now a tropical depression with winds topping out at about 35 mph, but there's been no let-up in the rain. Isaac has dumped as much as 16 inches in some areas. Hundreds of homes are underwater. Half the state is without power. Thousands are staying at shelters.

 7. NAVY SEAL BOOK

(AP) - The Pentagon's top lawyer has notified the former Navy SEAL who authored a forthcoming book describing details of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden that he violated agreements to not divulge military secrets. The Pentagon is said to be considering "all remedies legally available."
