Toledo man advertises job-hunting wife on billboard

TOLEDO, Ohio -

Finding a job in this economy isn't always easy. That's why one Toledo couple is using a billboard in hopes of catching an employer's eye.

Most people use a resume in hopes of finding a job, but this local couple is using a billboard. For more than four years, Holly Stuard worked at the University of Toledo in the MBA program.

When the university made cuts last year, Holly lost her job and has been looking for a new one ever since.

"It has been tough," she says. "There have been silver linings. We have three children, our daughter is in high school, and two little boys."

Having a full house doesn't always make the job search easy. This busy mom with a master's degree spends hours perfecting her resume.

Holly says she uses the traditional approach when applying for jobs, but her husband Brandon went beyond that.

Driving down Sylvania Avenue, her son pointed at something unusual.

"Our four-year-old son said, ‘Mama that looks like you up there on the billboard'"

Without Holly knowing, her husband put her resume and picture on a billboard.

"I've been trying to think of ways to help her out," says Brandon Stuard. "I drive past these billboards every day, and a light just went off."

The couple is catching more than local drivers' eyes, they're getting national attention too.

"The attention is great, but now the call we would like to get is we have something for your wife. That would be the ultimate goal. It would make her happy, it would make me happy, it would do great things for out family," says Brandon.

The unique approach cost the couple about $700, but the couple says it's worth it.
