1. OHIO SWINE FLU DEATHS

State health officials say a 61-year-old Ohio woman has become the first person in the state to die of a new swine flu strain. The Health Department says she died this week and while she had other medical problems, the virus may have contributed to her death. She became ill after contact with hogs at the Ross County Fair. Federal health officials report 288 cases of the strain this summer. The state health director says most Ohio cases have been mild.

2. MDA "SHOW OF STRENGTH"

It's Labor Day weekend and that means the Muscular Dystrophy Association is hitting the airwaves. There are some changes to the annual telethon put on by the MDA. This year's "Show of Strength" even will run on our 13abc Plus Channel. The three hour show runs from 8pm until 11pm Sunday night, raising awareness about MD. You can catch the big even on 13-2, Buckeye Cable 614 and Time Warner 996. And don't forget the MDA Car Show Sunday at the Medical Mutual Building on West Sylvania Avenue from 9am until 230pm.

3. BURNED WOMAN ARREST

(AP) - A 20-year-old Canton woman has been arrested in the gruesome death of a woman found covered in burns and suffering on the side of a rural Ohio road. Charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated arson were filed today against Katrina Marie Culberson.

4. ARMSTRONG SERVICE

(AP) - Ten former astronauts were among hundreds of mourners today at a closed service for Neil Armstrong today in suburban Cincinnati. Armstrong's two crewmates on his historic 1969 moon landing, Edward "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins were in attendance as was former astronaut and Senator John Glenn.

5. ISAAC VICTIMS

(AP) - Authorities say the bodies of a man and a woman have been found in a home in Braithwaite, Louisiana, where there was extensive flooding. It now appears at least six people died in Louisiana and Mississippi because of Hurricane Isaac. The victims include a 75-year-old man who drowned yesterday after his SUV fell from a highway ramp into 9 feet of water.

6. STOCKS RISE

(AP) - Investors are liking what they've heard today from Ben Bernanke, and stocks rose enough to put them into positive territory for August. The Federal Reserve chairman said this morning that the Fed is ready to help the economy with more bond-buying. The Dow Jones industrial average closed 90 points higher. The S&P 500 rose seven points, while the Nasdaq was up 18. Facebook set a new low. Downgrades by analysts pushed it down $1.03, to $18.06.
