Toledo police investigate similar robberies

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Toledo police are investigating two aggravated robberies that may be related. Investigators say the M.O. is the same in both crimes.

"After dark don't go out because they'll rob you for you bike, any money phones if you have any jewelry anything that they see of value they'll take"

Bridget Hanson says her 21-year-old mentally challenged son had a gun put to his head Monday night.

"You're horrified because it was gun pulled on him, and they're pulling a gun for a cell phone," she says.

The incident allegedly happened near Avondale and Hoag.

Hanson says her son was walking, when a gold SUV stopped, and a man with a gun jumped out, ordering her son to empty his pockets.

Hanson's son wasn't the only person robbed Monday night. According to a police report, a man was walking in the 3800 block of Dorr Street, when a silver SUV pulled up, and a man jumped out with a gun and robbed him.

Toledo police are investigating if the two cases are related. They say the M.O.s are the same, though the descriptions of the SUVs are different

In the meantime, Hanson encourages everyone to look out for their neighbor.

"If you come my way, the police are going to get called period. It's like trying to tell the younger kids don't be afraid of the police. The police are there to assist you and protect you, not just arrest you," she says. "You have to make them understand that they are friends versus enemies, and maybe we can get a little more cooperation out of the youth."

Police say, if you know anything about these crimes, call Crime Stoppers.
