Baby Jaxson remembered at cancer walk

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Baby Jaxson Hauser lost his battle with cancer in late June. Saturday, 140 friends and family members walked in the 2012 Curesearch Walk to honor his memory and help raise money to save other children.

Father Ryan Hauser said, "We got a lot of people walking in memory of my son today but this is just basically for childhood cancer in general. It's amazing to see everybody here."

Other families facing their own childhood cancer struggles also walked to raise money at Pearson Park.

Jaxson's grandmother Jill Hauser said it was bittersweet. "It's been kind of emotional for us, but seeing all the other babies that are making it and getting treatment and doing well, that's very uplifting."

The Hausers say its nice to get together with others who have gone through the same things because the families can support each other.

Ryan Hauser says, "I have some good days, I have some bad days, but I just try to stay busy and keep my mind off it. I know he's watching me so, and I know he's in a better place so, I'm okay."

The Hauser family raised more than five-thousand dollars for childhood cancer research through the walk.  "This is very important-childhood cancer, people don't know about. It's very under funded. And all these funds go to research so we can cure childhood cancer."
