This weekend the non-profit Social Service for the Arab Community is hosting a clothing donation drop off outside Westfield Franklin Park Mall.
The clothing will be distributed to a charity in Jordan to help Syrian refugees there.
Case manager Shane Lakatos says, " And beyond politics, beyond religion, beyond anything, you know people hurting and their families are there, that's why we really just want to help and want to show compassion and love."
With the civil war in Syria intensifying, the number of people who
need assistance has doubled to two-and-a-half million since July.
Members say events like this are a way people in Northwest Ohio can engage in global citizenship.
Executive Director Lona Lakatos says, "I was looking at it and I'm just thinking you know, what if my kids are there, what would I do, wouldn't I want everybody to help, wouldn't I want anybody to look at us and just help us? It's a worthy cause."
If you'd like to donate, the group will be set up Sunday in the mall parking lot along Sylvania Avenue. You can drop off donations beginning at 9 am.
