Lucas County early voting site set

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Big news when it comes to voting in Lucas County, specifically early voting.

Tuesday afternoon the Lucas County Board of Elections picked an early voting location.  It's right next to the Summit YMCA in downtown Toledo.

It was a unanimous vote for the board selecting the site.  Democrats and Republican on the board have gone back and forth for weeks trying to find a spot.   4 years ago it was held in a building on 14th street in downtown Toledo.

The Summit building was picked in part because it has the needed space, has off street parking, it's near a bus line, has internet and phone service already built in.

Lucas County commissioners have authorized their staff to negotiate a lease deal with the YMCA administrators.  The voting is supposed to be up and running by October 2nd.

The hours and days of voting have still not been determined.  That may happen when the final vacancy on the board of elections is filled.
