TOLEDO --  Judy Wentzel never got the chance to meet  20-year-old Nick Linke, but feels like she's known him forever.  Two people dragged Linke onto her front lawn the night he was shot and she hasn't
Dozens of friends and family members come out Wednesday night to say goodbye to 20-year-old Nick Linke.

A Toledo murder suspect is behind bars after police in Monroe, MI, found him hiding out in an apartment.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2800 block of North Monroe Street early Wednesday morning.  Members of the special response team found 22-year-old Tyler Watson.

Watson is accused of murder in the death of Nicholas Linke.

Tonight Linke's mother is telling 13abc about her son and what she thinks really happened.

The victim's mom says after talking with some of the friends who were there Saturday night she believes it was a drunken dare that clearly went tragically wrong.

"I'm just sad it had to be my son," says Vickie Linke.

On Thursday she will bury her youngest son.

20-year-old Nicholas Linke, a graduate of Woodward High School, was found dead in his car Saturday night at the corner of Ontario and Galena in Toledo.  Police say he was shot in another location and drove a short distance before crashing.

Vickie Linke says Nicholas was trying to drive himself to the hospital.

"He was a good kid. Anybody will tell you that.  He was a little misguided, he was still 20 years old, still trying to find himself," says Vickie LInke.

She believes her son was shot as part of a deadly dare between some friends.

"I guess he went to meet up with some friends and the friends were drunk and high and kind of dared each other to do this," says Vickie Linke.

"They were drunk and betting each other who was going to do what and how far they were going to take it," says Daniel Linke, the victim's older brother.

"You won't pull the trigger, you won't do this," says Vickie Linke.

13abc has not heard back from Toledo police about whether that's the case.  Nick's mom says she doesn't know the suspect, 23-year-old Tyler Watson.  Monroe County Sheriff's deputies arrested Watson Wednesday morning. Watson remains in the Monroe County Jail Wednesday night.  He's expected to be extradited to Ohio soon.
