Pets in need get help from a local youth group

Posted: Updated:

Some local kids are spending part of their weekend helping pets in need and you can have a lot of fun helping them out!

The Church of St. Andrew's youth group is hosting a "pets in poverty" event to benefit the Humane Ohio pet food bank. Pets are welcome. The event will feature a blessing of pets, a pet food drive to benefit the Humane Ohio pet food bank, pet related vendor booths, a bounce house for kids, food, music and "pets in poverty" T-shirt sales. Shirt proceeds will be used to buy food for the Humane Ohio pet food bank. Plus, local rescue groups will be on hand with animals for adoption, and youth from the non-profit organization Sheltered Reality will be performing at 3PM.

The event is Sunday, September 16th from 12–4 PM. The Church of St. Andrew is at 3260 Heatherdowns near Byrne Road in Toledo.

Humane Ohio is a non-profit organization that operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and pet food bank. The group's low-cost spay/neuter clinic serves any pet parent in Ohio or Michigan, free-roaming cat caretakers, animal shelters and rescue groups. The humane Ohio pet food bank serves pet parents and free-roaming cat caretakers in Lucas and wood counties in Ohio and Monroe county in Michigan.
