
Finishing in the dark on Tuesday evening, Lourdes University's men's golf team posted a team total of 343 at Quail Ridge Golf Club in Ada, Mich., and sits in eighth place through 18 holes of the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree of the season.
Davenport leads the way with a 309 total over the 6,938-yard, par-72 layout, holding a four shot advantage over Northwestern Ohio. The Gray Wolves trail seventh place Aquinas by 14 strokes while leading ninth place Concordia (Mich.) by 100 shots.
Sean McGuire (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) shot a collegiate-best round of 78 on Tuesday to pace the Gray Wolves and is tied for ninth place at the midway point of the tournament. He is just two strokes out of the top four.
Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) added an 85 for Lourdes while Jacob VanDyke (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) carded an 89. Cody Berg (Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield H.S.) posted a 91 as four freshmen made up the Gray Wolves' scoring total on the afternoon.
Jordan May (Salem, Ohio/United H.S.) and James Siebert (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher H.S.) each added 94s to round out Lourdes lineup.
Tom Kocks of Indiana Tech and Bailey Mathieson of Cornerstone, Tuesday's tournament host, lead the individual standings at one-over par 73 heading into Wednesday's final round.
Wednesday's round, which will be hosted by Davenport, will be played at Stonewater Golf Club in Caledonia, Mich. Play begins at 10 a.m.
