NEW LOCAL NEWS

1. ERIE CO. CHILD ABUSE

Four adults face felony child abuse charges after a four-month-old Sandusky girl was hospitalized with bleeding on the brain and broken bones. The little girl's parents and a baby sitter are among those charged. Erie County police say Daphne Waters took her baby daughter, Logan Wilson, to Firelands Hospital back in late August. The baby was transferred to a Toledo hospital where she was placed in ICU. Toledo doctors suspected child abuse, resulting in the four adults charged with felony assault and endangering a child.

2. AUTOPSY IN SANDUSKY TRIPLE MURDERS

Gruesome new details in a triple homicide investigation out of Sandusky. The Erie County prosecutor's office released autopsy reports for 23-year-old Heather Jackson and her two young children. All three were strangled and investigators say there is evidence the 3-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. 41-year-old Curtis Clinton is charged with the murders. The victims' family says they're pushing for the death penalty. Clinton remains jailed on $3 million bond.

3. FINDLAY HOTEL

A new hotel is expected to bring about 40 new jobs to Findlay. City leaders say developers plan to build a Hilton Garden Inn just west of I-75. The city planning commission approved a zoning change that would allow the hotel to break ground next year. The design includes 101 rooms and is expected to open sometime in 2014.

4. STARVATION DEATH

(AP) - Two nurses have been found guilty in the malnutrition death of a 14-year-old Ohio girl with cerebral palsy who died in 2011. The two women pleaded no contest to charges of failing to provide for a functionally impaired person. Sentencing is Oct. 24. Another nurse is to go on trial Nov 5. The girl's mother was sentenced to nine years for involuntary manslaughter and other crimes.

5. HAZARDOUS WASTE SITES

(AP) - Ohio is home to two of the 12 hazardous waste sites the Environmental Protection Agency is adding to the list of most-contaminated places in the United States. Texas also has two sites. Other waste sites are in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, North Carolina and New Jersey.

6. COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

(AP) - There's been a major development in Wisconsin's battle over collective bargaining rights for most public workers. A judge has ruled that the law stripping those rights is unconstitutional. The law is the crowning achievement of Gov. Scott Walker. His administration says the ruling will be appealed.

7. ARMSTRONG BURIED AT SEA

(AP) - The first man to walk on the moon has been buried at sea. NASA says Neil Armstrong's cremated remains were buried in the Atlantic Ocean today during a ceremony aboard the USS Philippine Sea. He was a Navy fighter pilot before joining the space program. There was a memorial service yesterday in Washington for Armstrong, who died last month. He was 82.
