Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Mary Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, MICH. – Toledo posted a 12th-place finish on Sunday at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational. The tournament was held at MSU's Forest Akers West Golf Course. The Rockets shot a 54-hole score of 76-over 940 (313-308-319).

Sophomore Becky Martin and freshman Sathika Ruenreong led Toledo today with seven-over par 79s, while senior Allison Schultz tied for 25th place at 13-over par 229 (74-75-80) to pace the Rockets in the tournament. Martin produced UT's second-best individual showing in the tourney by tying for 46th place at 20-over par 236 (78-79-79). Rounding out the Rocket lineup were junior Kate Hoops (T-54th/81-76-81), Ruenreong (T-70th/87-78-79=244) and sophomore Stephanie St-Jean (T-83rd/ 80-82-87).

"The course played a lot tougher today but I thought we fought hard and played better at the end of our round," Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "We didn't play as well as well we liked, but now we'll try to come back and play better next weekend."

Purdue captured the tournament title at 11-over par 875 (288-290-297), seven strokes ahead of the host Spartans (297-289-296=882) and 12 in front of Notre Dame (298-290-299=887). Texas State's Krista Puisite earned medalist honors with a 54-hole score one-under par 215 (71-71-73).

The Rockets return to action next weekend with a trip to Ann Arbor, MI for Michigan's Wolverine Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23.
