The next time there is severe weather in the area, Lake Township residents can expect a warning phone call.
Township trustees are testing out a new severe weather warning company, the Sentinel Tribune reports it's a system that sends out alerts from the national weather service.
More than 2 years ago a tornado ripped through Lake Township, destroying multiple homes and the high school.
All residents including those in Walbridge and Millbury will receive a call. The new service is costing more than $1,500 a year for the home phone calls, or about 30 cents per resident, money the police chief says is well spent.
If you live in the area, the police chief is asking everyone to update their contact information on the township website and there is also an option of opting out of the service but you must fill out a form first.
