BG school district campaigns for levy support

Posted: Updated:
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -

Resident's in Bowling Green will most likely be getting a letter in the mail asking for donations.

The Bowling Green school district is hoping the community will pitch in to promote the school levy on the November ballot.

The district's superintendent says they can't run an effective campaign without some funds to purchase signs and brochures. Resident's can expect letters asking for support.School leaders say any amount of money would be appreciated.

A .75-mill levy will appear on the November ballot this year. The superintendent says fundraising is necessary because the district cannot use its own funds to support the levy and the only way that schools generate funding is to go to the public.

School leaders say more than $6,000 has already been raised since the start of the school year in support of the campaign.
