Overnight police shooting at Ohio school injures 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Columbus police say officers responding to a possible break-in at a school fired at and injured one suspect and arrested another.

The district announced it would cancel classes for the day at Brookhaven High School in northwest Columbus after the shooting Tuesday.

Police say officers responded to a burglar alarm at the school around 3:30 a.m. They say officers had confronted 22-year-old Chaunce Dolan in the hallway when 22-year-old Ahmad Khatab ran into 1 of the officers and was shot. Khatab was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm and released from a hospital.

Police say Dolan and Khatab have been arrested on a charge of breaking and entering and were taken to jail. It wasn't immediately clear whether they had lawyers.
