Moody Manor murder investigation continues

Posted: Updated:

It's a crime that rocked the community. A deadly shooting at Moody Manor apartments. Three men are charged with obstruction. The suspects parents support their sons.

"It's just video in the moody. It ain't showing  them doing no shooting. That's all I don't know about any video doing no shooting because if they had that they'd have them in jail for murder," said James Moore's father

The father of James Moore didn't want to show his face.  Moore, Keshawn Jennings and Antwaine Jones went to court to ask a judge to reduce their bonds. Jones father says the charges are bogus.

"If he was wrong he was wrong if he was right he was right I ain't going to sugarcoat nothing. I know he wasn't where he was at the time and yall still charge my family," said Antwaine Jones' father

Police say the men are the primary suspects in the murder of one year old Keondra Hooks and the shooting of her sister.  Surveillance video from moody manor apartments shows five people on tape including the suspects. Investigators say two of the people on the video led detectives to arrest the 3 men. The prosecutor says the suspects lied.

"If they can't state with specificity what actually hampered or impeded their investigation by the lies I think the state fails," said lawyer Beau Harvey

The judge disagreed. The suspects have long criminal records. Keshawn Jennings has seven misdemeanor offenses, 27 active cases in municipal court, 41 failures to appear in 23 cases. He's on probation for obstruction of justice and has a extensive juvenile criminal history.

James Moore was convicted for carrying a gun and escape. He has three failures to appear, and an extensive juvenile criminal history for falsification of information and domestic violence.

Antwaine Jones was on bond for carrying a gun, he has one failure to appear, an extensive juvenile criminal history. He was also convicted of trafficking drugs and 10 misdemeanors including discharging a firearm.

"Given their criminal history and the underlying investigation that focuses on them as the primary suspects in a homicide we believe it would be a huge risk to release them on or bond into this community given what we know so far," said prosecutor Andrew Lastra.

A judge reduced bond for Antwaine Jones to $10,000 and dropped bond to $20,000 for Keshawn Jennings and James Moore. Again the three men are only charged with obstruction of justice.
