Police confiscated large amounts of illegal mushrooms early Sunday, after getting calls of a break in at 2454 Woodford. Evidence at the Woodford home led them to four other locations where authorities
Three men are accused of having a large mushroom growing operation inside of a Toledo home.
There are new details on a massive mushroom growing operation busted over the weekend.
Toledo police searched yet another property in the illegal drug investigation. That makes it a total of six locations, including four in Toledo and one in Whitehouse.
Police are not releasing the location of the property searched Tuesday or the amount of mushrooms seized from all six places, only saying there could be more locations to come as the drug investigation continues.
"We had no clue!" says Tina Mansfield.
Mansfield has lived next door to a home on the 400 block of Arden Street in East Toledo for two years.
Early Sunday morning, she was surprised to see police raiding the home hauling out hundreds of bins.
"Plastic bins coming in and out, in and out, in and out. We started counting. It was like 350 bins," says Mansfield.
Police confiscated large amounts of illegal mushrooms.
A 9-1-1 call from a pay phone sets the discovery in motion. The caller reported a break-in at a home in the 2400 block of Woodford. Evidence at that home led police to four other locations including the home on Arden.
One similarity at the Toledo locations is that the windows are covered with pink shades.
That's the case at the home on the 200 block of Eastern and the home on the 1300 block of Camden.
Police also recovered evidence at a horse farm on Berkey Southern Road in Whitehouse.
So far three people face charges: Mikael Stiles and Ian Golbinec of Toledo, as well as Matt Thierry of Whitehouse.
All are charged with illegal cultivation, drug possession, and drug trafficking.
"We used to see the man coming and going. He spoke to us and he was nice. But we had no clue what was going on over there at all," says Mansfield.
This mother is angry, but relieved the massive mushroom growing operation is gone.
"Oh my God, because what if he would've dropped something, we have little kids because they say that stuff is deadly," says Mansfield.
Toledo police plan to hold a news conference on Thursday revealing more details in the investigation.
