
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Detroit Mercy scored once in each half to deal the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team a disappointing 2-0 loss Tuesday night (Sept. 18). The non-conference match was held at Cochrane Field on the BGSU campus.
With the win, the Titans improve to 4-4-0 on the season. The Falcons drop to 2-3-2.
Patrick Soltys got the visitors on the scoreboard with 16:08 gone in the contest, heading home a Kevin Pinkos corner kick. Detroit got an insurance goal from Adam Bedell with just 4:02 remaining in the match. Bedell, the two-time reigning Horizon League Player of the Week, knocked home the rebound of a shot by Matt Ybarra.
For Bedell, it marked the fifth consecutive match in which he has scored a goal.
Nathan Steinwascher made five saves to earn the shutout for the visitors. BGSU junior Michael Wiest had four saves at the other end of the pitch.
BGSU now prepares for a Saturday (Sept. 22) matchup with the nationally-ranked University of Akron. The Falcons and Zips will meet in a 7:00 p.m. start at Cochrane Field, and it will be an Orange Out, as all fans are encouraged to wear orange.
