
Lourdes University's men's golf team concluded the Bill Bockwitz Intercollegiate with a 12th place finish on Saturday morning at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Mich., firing a 36-hole total of 663.
The Gray Wolves improved by three strokes over round one, shooting 330 over the final 18 holes.
Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) led the way for Lourdes in the final round, shooting an 81 to finish the tournament at 167. The freshman improved by five strokes over his opening round.
Sean McGuire (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) added an 82 on the 6,651-yard, par-72 layout. He led the Gray Wolves overall at 159, tying for 32nd place. Cody Berg (Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield H.S.) added an 83 to finish at 170, improving by four strokes from round one.
Jacob VanDyke (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) also improved from round one, firing a second round 84 to finish at 171. Kevin Ritzenhaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) concluded his first collegiate tournament with a 90 to post 173 for the event.
Huntington won the team tournament at 590 (286-304), winning by 17 strokes over Spring Arbor. Huntington's Mickey Belt won the individual title by three shots, finishing at one-under par 143 (71-72).
Lourdes will return to action on Friday afternoon at the Ken Venturi Invitational, hosted by Trine. Action begins at 1 p.m. in Angola, Ind.
