(Toledo, OH) - August unemployment was down in northwest Ohio according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The unemployment rate showed a 2.2% drop in Lucas County when compared to August 2011 (9.8% to 7.4%).
In Toledo, the rate dropped from 9.1% in July to 8.3% in August.
This news comes after the state of Ohio announced last week that its overall unemployment rate held steady between July and August at 7.2%.
Other unemployment rates: Wood County (6.6%), Hancock County (5.6%), Ottawa County (7.1%), Sandusky County (6.3%), Fulton County (6.7%), Williams County (7.5%).
Nationally, unemployment numbers have also shown a downward trend, but analysts say the drop is largely due to individuals who have stopped looking for work and are no longer being counted.
