BGSU Swimming Celebrates Homecoming

The Bowling Green State University swim team opens the 2012-13 season with an exhibition meet in celebration of BGSU's 2012 Homecoming weekend.

The Falcons welcome alumni swimmers back to Cooper Pool to compete in the Jean Campbell Alumni Meet on Saturday, Sep. 29.  The annual event pits current swimmers against alums in a series of races scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Already on the schedule are races in the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, the 4x50 freestyle relay and 4x50 medley relay.  Fans of BGSU swimming past and present are invited to attend.

"I always enjoy when people come back and share with us their memories and stories of growing up as part of the Falcon family," said head coach Petra Martin.  "It's also nice to connect the alums with the current team and show the current student-athletes that the strong relationships and ties they create here will stay with them for the rest of their lives and that the Falcon pride will stay with them forever."

The Alumni Meet is the first of three exhibitions on the Falcon swimming schedule leading into the regular season.  The team will also compete in the Orange vs. Brown intrasquad (Oct. 5) and the Tom Stubbs Relays (Oct. 12), both hosted by BGSU at Cooper Pool.

Regular season action begins Oct. 26 with BGSU hosting a triangular meet against Wayne State and Ashland.
