The Toledo men's and No. 22 women's cross country teams are traveling to Lawrence, KS to compete in the Rim Rock Farm Classic, hosted by Kansas on Saturday, Sept. 29. The men's 8K race will begin at 9:00 a.m., while the women's 6K event will get underway at 10:00 a.m.
Each race will feature 16 schools with No. 11 Indiana as the only ranked men's team. Toledo and No. 11 Michigan are the only ranked teams on the women's side. Some other schools competing include Air Force, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Rice.
"We're excited to go to Kansas," Head Coach Kevin Hadsell said. "They've kind of put together an inter-regional like we had and it'll be interesting to race some teams that we don't typically see very often."
Saturday's race will be the third event of the season for both teams who are coming off fourth-place finishes at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster last week. The men were led by sophomore Jake Kasperski who finished 24th overall with a time of 19:58.30 in the four-mile race. Senior Kaylin Belair, an All-MAC Second Team selection a year ago, paced the women with a 4k time of 13:33.70 for 11th place.
