The Toledo softball team will compete in the 12th Annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic this weekend at Fred Beekman Park on Ohio State's campus. The event benefits the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research and has grown into one of the biggest fundraisers in Central Ohio, raising more than $161,000 in the past 11 years.
There are 14 teams participating with each team scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30. Teams include: Akron, Ashland, Capital, Dayton, Denison, Kenyon, Mount Union, Ohio, Ohio Dominican, Ohio State, Rio Grande, Toledo, Ursuline and Wright State.
The Rockets are scheduled to take the field Saturday at 1:15 p.m. for back-to-back games against Ashland and Wright State. The second game should start at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Sunday's action has Toledo battling Mount Union (Purple) at 1:15 p.m. and host Ohio State in the finale at 3:30 p.m.
Looking ahead, the Rockets have three fall games remaining after this weekend. Findlay comes to Scott Park on Saturday, Oct. 6 (Homecoming) before Toledo wraps up the season against Michigan State and Wayne State in East Lansing, MI the following day.
