General Motors has issued a recall for 40,000 cars and SUVs due to a faulty fuel pump.

GM says the fuel pumps in the vehicles could crack potentially causing a dangerous fuel leak.

The recall affects the 2007 through 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, 2007 through 2009 Pontiac G-5, 2007 Pontiac Torrent, and 2007 Saturn Ion.

Owners can receive a free replacement by contacting a GM Dealer.
