October: a month of changes in Toledo weather

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

October begins on Monday, and in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, the seasons change quickly.  The month of October is one of major transition in our weather.

From October 1st to Halloween, we lose 1 hour and 20 minutes of possible daylight, with each passing day about 2 minutes and 40 seconds shorter than the previous.

The sun angle during the middle of the afternoon on Halloween is 10° lower in the sky than on October 1st.  (90° would be directly overhead, and 0° would be on the horizon.)

When it comes to our day-to-day weather, our average high and low on October 1st are 69 and 46.

By Halloween, our average high and low fall to 57 and 38.

Toledo averages 2.60" of precipitation in October.

It's time to dig out those jackets, if you haven't done so, yet!
