Early voting beings Tuesday, October 2nd in Ohio. Here's a list of early voting locations in Northwest Ohio...
Toledo leaders have kicked off a statewide initiative that will encourage people to vote early and even sleep outside. It's called "Sleep Out the Vote." It began in 2008 in Cincinnati.
"It's asking people that want to be first in line for the early vote on Tuesday to come out," Toledo City Councilwoman, Paula Hicks-Hudson, tells 13abc.
The goals is to support early voting and get Ohioans to be the first to vote.
One local family went to the extreme to make a statement. The Cumberland's of Toledo brought their RV to spend the night in the parking lot across the street from Lucas County's early voting center.
"I came to do it early," Fred Cumberland said. "I'm going to make that vote on Tuesday and make it county."
"Its a big year, but every election is an important time to vote," Hicks-Hudson said. "Every issue is an important issue, so it affects us."
She says its a right to vote, and people should do it sooner rather than later just in case.
"Voting is your most precious right of citizenship, don't waste it away by waiting for one day when you've got so many days you can exercise it," she said.
Though it may seem crazy to sleep outside for a vote, she says it is a fun and new way to get people excited.
