Police bust underage drinking party

Posted: Updated:

Toledo police bust an underage drinking party.  It happened Saturday. It's what police found at the party that concerns them.

More than 20 teenagers were charged over the weekend after police showed up at an underage party at this house on Mansfield.

"I seen a whole bunch of cop cars coming down the street and the patty wagon comes up and see the cops with the flash lights all out about," said Caitlyn Gravelle.

According to this police report when officers arrived kids scattered and they found 15 juveniles hiding in the basement.

"All you see is kids piling out of the house. The cops were like you know there's more and you see them all pile out and there were tons of kids in there," said Gravelle.

Officers called the parents of all the kids. 18-year old Jonathan Bajas was arrested and booked for allegedly trafficking marijuana and possession of heroin.

"What kids need to know if you find yourself in a situation like that you just need to leave its not worth catching some criminal record over attending some party. When you have this type of thing going the chances of something bad happening go way up. There was hard drugs there there was heroin at this place. We're lucky nobody tried experimented with something and overdosed or anything like that," said Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan.

Sgt. Joe Heffernan says the owner of the home could faces charges.

"Its her house the house is her responsibility and anything that happens in that house especially from her kids she is liable from it," said Sgt. Heffernan.

Police say the responsibility is on the parent to know where and what their child's doings.
These neighbors agree.

"It is ridiculous these kids don't need to be drinking and these parents need to be more careful with it," said Gravelle.

The teenage boy who threw the party his mother declined to talk with 13abc.
