There are new details in the Islamic Center arson investigation. Perrysburg Township police are getting tips from the public after releasing surveillance pictures of a man they call a person of interest. Detectives
Perrysburg Township police are hoping someone will recognize a man in security photos who they call a person of interest.
Officials say a 52-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on multiple charges stemming from an arson fire at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo.
Randy Linn from St. Joe, Indiana faces charges of arson, aggravated burglary and carrying a concealed weapon.
According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, Linn is believed to be the man captured in surveillance photos and named Monday as a person of interest in the case.
He is in custody at the Allen County Jail, pending extradition to Ohio.
This stems from a fire on Sunday. Perrysburg Township firefighters say there was a fire in the second floor prayer room.
Former administrator, John Shousher, was there just hours before it happened. He says he didn't notice anything suspicious at the time. BUt now he's left wondering why someone would want to set the mosque on fire.
"This is not the normal way of life," Shousher said. "This is not what America is all about."
After learning of the arrest he said, "it's okay, I'm glad they did. Maybe they'll be an example to somebody else, so they don't do it to another mosque."
Shousher wants to get the community together soon to pray for love and respect after everything that has happened.
The Islamic Center is still roped off and being patrolled by police.
