Rockets to Appear on Two Occasions on MAC’s 2012-13 Television Schedule

Posted: Updated:

The Toledo men's basketball program will be featured on two occasions on SportsTime Ohio (STO) as part of the Mid-American Conference's television package, the league office announced on Wednesday, Oct. 3. UT will visit defending MAC Tournament champion Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6:00 p.m., before hosting defending MAC regular-season champ Akron on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 p.m.

A record-total of 53 Mid-American Conference men's and women's basketball games will be televised nationally and regionally in the upcoming 2012-13 season. Forty games will be produced and distributed by SportsTime Ohio (STO), the league's regional cable flagship partner. In addition, there will be at least 13 other men's basketball games that are scheduled to be televised on ESPN platforms (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3). The regional productions produced by STO will also have the potential to air on ESPN Full Court and ESPN3.

Selected games will also be available in the MAC footprint via Comcast Michigan (channel 900), Comcast Indiana (channel 81) and Comcast Sports Net Chicago. Check your local listings for game times and local availability. Games will also be available via STO in the Buffalo market on DirecTV (channel 662) and Dish Network (channel 431) as Buffalo is part of STO's normal distribution footprint.

SportsTime Ohio is a Northern Ohio regional sports network reaching 2.8 million homes and designed to offer a variety of sports programming produced for the Ohio sports fan. STO's initial venture was the largest television package in Cleveland Indians team history. STO offers 150 Indians games annually with all contests in HD. Beginning July 1, 2007, STO became the official cable home of the Cleveland Browns offering Browns fans 52 weeks of Browns coverage. STO is also the television home of the OHSAA football and basketball playoffs and championships and the official cable partner of the MAC.

The Rockets return their entire starting lineup, including second-team All-MAC honoree and junior Rian Pearson (16.4 ppg, 8.3 rpg) and 2011-12 MAC Freshman of the Year Julius Brown (11.9 ppg, 4.9 apg). UT's other returning starters are senior G Dominique Buckley (9.7 ppg, 41.9 3PTFG%), junior F Matt Smith (8.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and junior F Reese Holliday (7.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg). In total, the Midnight Blue and Gold return 83.3 percent of their points, 82.0 percent of their rebounds and 89.5 percent of their assists from the 2011-12 campaign. Toledo are also integrating a talented freshman trio of C Nathan Boothe (Gurnee, IL), G Josh Lemons (Cincinnati, OH) and F Aubrey Williams (Bowie, MD) into their program.
