Woman struck by her own vehicle after stopping on RR tracks

Troopers in Danbury Township are investigating a serious crash that sent one person to the hospital.

It happened just before 5 o'clock Sunday morning on South Danbury Road in Ottawa County at the Norfolk and Southern Railroad crossing

Troopers say 33-year-old Tiffany Fischer stopped her vehicle on the railroad tracks and stood along the driver's side of the car as a Norfolk and Southern train was approaching.

The driver was waving her arms to alert the train to stop.

The train was unable to stop before striking the vehicle.

Troopers say the force of the accident caused the car to spin counterclockwise, striking Fischer.

Fischer was taken by air ambulance to UTMC.

The crash remains under investigation but troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
