
TOLEDO - The Toledo Walleye picked up two goals as they lost their final preseason game, 3-2 at the Huntington Center on Saturday night.
Kalamazoo's Justin Taylor opened the scoring in the first period, slipping a shot through Walleye goaltender Petr Mrazek's pads. The Wings added to their lead at the 16:59 mark of the period after Derek Graham netted his first goal of the preseason.
Kalamazoo out shot the Walleye 12-9 in the opening frame.
Nick Walsh extended Kalamazoo's lead to 3-0 7:06 in to the second period.
Defenseman Cody Lampl would then light the lamp on the power play, getting Toledo on the board at the 14:53 mark of the period, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Wings. Assists on the goal went to Josh Turnbull and Wes O'Neill.
The Walleye sent 13 shots at Kalamazoo goaltender Joel Martin, for a two period total of 22.
Toledo would pull within a goal 2:00 in to the third period off of a shot from Nikita Poliakov. Doug Clarkson and Phil Rauch collected the assists on Poliakov's second goal of the preseason.
