TOLEDO, Ohio -

Firefighters say unattended cooking caused a fire Sunday night at the Campus Village apartment complex near U.T.

Battalion Chief Bob Krause said, "We had some unattended cooking.  A gentleman was cooking his dinner, he left to go to the store with heating element still working. He came back to his house on fire."

The fire was contained in the apartment where it started and did not spread to nearby units. Flames did get into the attic, but crews managed to quickly get them under control.

A handful of students are displaced, but will be allowed to stay in vacant units until the smoke clears. No residents were injured

A firefighter was injured while working to establish a water supply line and taken to the hospital to be evaluated. His injuries are believed to be minor.
