Hundreds of record lows set in Midwest

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

643 record lows were set over the past few days, from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific Northwest.

This morning's low of 29° in Toledo didn't quite match the record of 26°, from 1889.

Still, it was plenty cold, and the growing season is quickly coming to a close.

Tonight will not be quite as cold as last night for the Toledo metro area, but we will still see some patchy frost.

Frost Advisories are in effect for many areas from I-75 to the east, but not along the Lake Erie shoreline in Ottawa or Erie Counties.  A Freeze Warning is in effect in Marion County.

Farther north and west, from Wauseon to Hillsdale and beyond, a light wind will blow from the south, later tonight.

That light wind should be just enough to keep temperatures in the middle 30s, but patchy frost can still occur when the official reported temperature (about 6' above the ground) is above freezing.
