NEW LOCAL NEWS

1. "DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS"

Police say the house where two bodies were found Friday, was in what a spokesman calls "deplorable condition."   When police entered the home, it was heated to about 100 degrees. They're not sure if it was a furnace problem. Autopsies were scheduled for today.

2. VOTER REGISTRATION

Time is running out to registered to vote in the November election. The deadline to register and update voting addresses for the November 6 General Election is tomorrow. Residents have until 9pm Tuesday, October 9th to register at count boards of election, the local library, the BMV or online. The check your registration status, log on to the Secretary of State's website: http://www.sos.state.oh.us/

3. MENINGITIS OHIO

(AP) - Health officials are reaching out to patients who got injections of a steroid linked to a fungal meningitis outbreak in nine states. One Ohio case was confirmed over the weekend. Officials are working to ensure that patients who got the steroid injections at four Ohio facilities contact their doctors.

4. CHEERLEADER SEX CRIMES

(AP) - A former cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals has admitted in court she had sex with a 17-year-old student at the school where she taught in northern Kentucky. Today's plea before Sarah Jones' trial was to begin means that she will avoid jail time in the case.

5. SANDUSKY SENTENCING

(AP) - A lawyer for Jerry Sandusky says "it's as certain as certain can be" that the former Penn State assistant football coach will address the judge at his sentencing tomorrow. Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola says he anticipates Sandusky will say he's innocent. Some of Sandusky's victims are also expected to speak at the proceeding.

6. NATIONAL MENINGITIS RISK

(AP) - It's unclear how many of them are at risk, but as many as 13,000 people received steroid shots suspected in a national meningitis outbreak. Many of the patients were treated with the shots for back pain. But others got the shots in other places like knees and shoulders and are considered less susceptible than the back patients. The outbreak has sickened at least 105 people and claimed eight lives.
